## 3) Registering and Setting Up the Floor Plan (Optional)

> [!NOTE]
>
> If you have no plan to register, you can skip this section and proceed to
> [4. On-Site Locator Installation](/en/locator/install). Locator positions are then entered
> directly as coordinates in [6. Activating Positioning](/en/locator/placement). In that case
> the floor shows as 'Incomplete' instead of 'Plan Complete' in the floor list, which does not
> block the following steps.

The plan must be matched to the actual size of the space. An image file (PNG · JPG) carries no information about the real size, so you enter the measured width and depth (m) of the space yourself;
a CAD file (DXF) fills 'Actual plan size' automatically from the drawing, so you check that the values match the measurements. These values are the plan's coordinate baseline.
Locators, zones, and positioning coordinates are all defined against this baseline, so enter accurate distances.

**Image vs. DXF**

An image (PNG · JPG) is a picture of the plan; a DXF is the data the plan was drawn with in CAD.

| | Image (PNG · JPG) | DXF (CAD) |
| - | - | - |
| Best suited for | When you have no CAD original or want a quick setup | When you have a CAD drawing and need accurate wall lines |
| Actual plan size | Measure the space and enter it yourself | Read from the file and filled in automatically. It is the extent of the whole drawing, so it can differ from the wall-to-wall distance |
| Background plan | The uploaded picture is shown as is | The lines in the file are read as is and redrawn. Walls and other structure are accurate and stay sharp when zoomed in |

If you have no CAD drawing or want a quick setup, use an image. If you have a CAD drawing, use the DXF to show the wall lines accurately. Either way, positioning results are the same as long as the scale is correct.

![Floor list on the Floor Tasks screen: the Plan Placement button for the floor](https://mintcdn.com/onecheck/v-NNoPHtuKTLba-D/images/geospace/3.spaces-plan-entry.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=v-NNoPHtuKTLba-D\&q=85\&s=fa1fd1a1076d328cd7440f942cd48443)

1. In the floor list, click \[Plan Placement →].

The Plan Placement screen has two tabs at the top left: \[Placement · Analysis] and \[Google Maps Alignment].
Register the plan and set the scale on the \[Placement · Analysis] tab. Use \[Google Maps Alignment] only when you want to register a DXF plan at its real location on the satellite map (see step 2 of the DXF tab).

Choose the tab for the plan format you prepared and follow the steps in the tab.

**Image (PNG · JPG) · Default**

![Plan Placement screen: image upload, actual plan size input, distance measurement (tape measure), two-point scale setting, save floor info, and Floor Tasks buttons](https://mintcdn.com/onecheck/9BTDfSqdy9fBmDyx/images/geospace/3.spaces-plan-deploy.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=9BTDfSqdy9fBmDyx\&q=85\&s=22c6e8fef19e50dc93e5bd9ea0404250)

2. Click the \[Image] button and upload the plan file (PNG or JPG), then
enter the measured width and depth (m) of the space in 'Actual plan size'.
   * When the upload completes, the image file name, size, and pixel dimensions (px),
along with the measured values matching the initial image, appear as a label under the \[Analyze Plan] button.

3. Click the tape measure (distance measurement) button at the top right of the plan.

4. Click the two ends of a representative stretch whose real distance you know (e.g., between a wall and the opposite wall), then press **Enter** to measure the distance.
   * Check that the measured distance matches the real size of the space, once horizontally and once vertically.
   * When done, click the \[X] button next to the tape measure or press **ESC** to end measurement.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Why verify by measuring**\\
>
> 'Actual plan size' applies to the full width and depth of the plan image. If the image includes
> margins outside the actual space, the image size and the actual space size differ, and distances
> on the plan can drift from the measured values. That is why you measure a stretch with a known
> real distance and adjust if it is off.

5. If the measured distance differs from the actual value, re-enter 'Actual plan size' to match
the measured value, or adjust the scale with \[Set Scale with Two Points].
   * The plan image's proportions adjust automatically to the entered values.
   * When you enter the width, the depth is calculated automatically from the image's aspect ratio.
If you edited the depth manually, click \[Auto] to recalculate it from the width.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **\[Set Scale with Two Points] button (reference)**\\
>
> Click two points on the plan whose real distance you know and enter that distance (m), and 'Actual plan size' is recalculated to match it.
> You do not need it if the distance measured with the tape measure matches the real value.
> When you click the button, it changes to \[Cancel scale measure]. After you click two points on the plan, the buttons below and a 'Real distance (m)' input appear. The \[가로+세로], \[가로만], and \[세로만] buttons are shown in Korean in every language.
>
> | Button | What it does |
> | - | - |
> | \[가로+세로] (width + depth) | ·Scales the width and depth by the same ratio, based on the distance between the two points·Selected by default. Normally use this button as is |
> | \[가로만] (width only) | ·Adjusts only the width, based on the horizontal distance between the two points. The depth stays as it is·Use when the plan's width-to-depth ratio differs from the real space |
> | \[세로만] (depth only) | ·Adjusts only the depth, based on the vertical distance between the two points. The width stays as it is·Use when the plan's width-to-depth ratio differs from the real space |
> | \[Apply] | ·Updates 'Actual plan size' with the value recalculated from the entered real distance and shows a 'Scale applied' message·Nothing is saved yet. Click \[Save Floor Info] to keep the change |
> | \[Cancel scale measure] | ·Clears the clicked points and ends measurement |

6. Click \[Save Floor Info] at the top right to save the plan settings.

7. Click the \[Floor Tasks] button at the top right to return to the floor list.

![Floor Tasks screen: floor list with a Plan Complete badge on the saved floor](https://mintcdn.com/onecheck/-xedZvl_3zPlCfJP/images/geospace/3.spaces-floor-complete.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=-xedZvl_3zPlCfJP\&q=85\&s=ea080eadd96c90974587436e3ae30af0)

8. Confirm the floor shows as 'Plan Complete'.

**DXF (CAD) · If you have a CAD drawing**

A DXF uses the wall lines from CAD as they are, so the plan is shown sharply. If you have no CAD drawing or want a quick setup, you can use the Image tab instead. Positioning is the same either way.

![Screen right after a DXF upload — the DXF button and the plan lines previewed on the canvas](https://mintcdn.com/onecheck/9BTDfSqdy9fBmDyx/images/geospace/3.spaces-plan-dxf-upload.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=9BTDfSqdy9fBmDyx\&q=85\&s=bf340d6386dce96093a4de81147fbeaf)

2. Click the \[DXF] button (②) to upload the plan file. The plan lines appear on the canvas as a preview (③); nothing is saved yet.

> **(Optional) \[Google Maps Alignment]: register the plan at its real location on the satellite map**
>
> \[Google Maps Alignment] overlays the plan on a satellite map to match its location and direction.
> It is a reference feature for map display and does not affect indoor positioning, so if you do not need it, you can skip this and go to step 3.
>
> If you set it up, do so right after uploading the plan (DXF), before saving.
> For a floor that is already saved, click \[DXF] and upload the file again first. Alignment cannot be saved while the saved plan is loaded.
>
> ![Google Maps Alignment tab (the plan overlaid on the satellite map, the move map and move plan buttons, and the rotation input)](https://mintcdn.com/onecheck/9BTDfSqdy9fBmDyx/images/geospace/3.spaces-plan-gmap-align.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=9BTDfSqdy9fBmDyx\&q=85\&s=1c4146031845ce58e68890c98a646b5f)
>
> 1. Click the \[Google Maps Alignment] tab (①). A satellite map centered on the location set when the building was registered appears, with the plan overlaid on it.
> 2. With \[도면 이동] (move plan) (②) selected, drag the plan to the building's real location. To move the map instead, select \[지도 이동] (move map) next to it. These two buttons are shown in Korean in every language.
> 3. Enter an angle in \[Rotation (°)] (③) to match the plan's direction to the building. If needed, adjust \[Opacity] so both the map and the plan are visible.

> 4. Click \[Save GPS Alignment (DXF)] (④) and confirm that the 'GPS alignment saved' message (⑤) appears.
>
> > [!CAUTION]
> >
> > Leave \[Scale (%)] at 100 and do not click \[Apply This Scale to Placement]. The plan's actual size would change to the size fitted on the satellite map, overwriting the scale you set from measurements.

3. Click \[Save Floor Info] at the top right, then go out to \[Floor Tasks].

![Plan Placement screen after saving and re-entering: the automatic actual plan size, the saved plan image and vector count, and the width and depth measured with the tape measure](https://mintcdn.com/onecheck/9BTDfSqdy9fBmDyx/images/geospace/3.spaces-plan-dxf-saved.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=9BTDfSqdy9fBmDyx\&q=85\&s=324f838364a941e700972e927fb94054)

4. In the floor list, click \[Plan Placement →] for the floor again. The saved plan appears as the background, 'Saved plan image · N vectors' (④) appears under the buttons,
and the drawing size is already filled into 'Actual plan size'. Leave these values as they are.

> [!NOTE]
>
> 'N vectors' is the number of lines the program correctly recognized in the DXF file.\\
>
> The automatic 'Actual plan size' values are the extent of the whole drawing. They can be larger than the wall-to-wall distance, which is normal.
> (In the screenshot above: automatic 87.79 × 106.9 m, wall to wall 85.47 × 106.34 m)

5. Click the tape measure (distance measurement) button at the top right of the plan(⑤).

6. Click the two ends of a representative stretch whose real distance you know (e.g., between a wall and the opposite wall), then press **Enter** to measure the distance (⑥).
   * Check that the measured distance matches the real size of the space, once horizontally and once vertically.
   * When done, click the \[X] button next to the tape measure or press **ESC** to end measurement.
   * If the measured distance differs from the value measured on site, the drawing does not match the site: correct it with \[Set Scale with Two Points], and click \[Save Floor Info] if you made a correction.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **\[Set Scale with Two Points] button (reference)**\\
>
> Click two points on the plan whose real distance you know and enter that distance (m), and 'Actual plan size' is recalculated to match it.
> You do not need it if the distance measured with the tape measure matches the real value.

8. Confirm the floor shows as 'Plan Complete'.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Planning features on the Plan Placement screen (reference)**\\
>
> The Plan Placement screen also shows the features below. They are aids for planning locator positions in advance when placing many locators in a large space, and they do not affect positioning results.
> They are more useful in complex interiors with many walls and rooms than in simple square or rectangular spaces.
>
> In this manual, the 4 locators are installed at the four corners of the detection area ([4. On-Site Locator Installation](/en/locator/install)) and placed on the plan at those positions in [6. Activating Positioning](/en/locator/placement), so do not use these features and move on to the next step.
>
> | Feature | Description |
> | - | - |
> | \[Analyze plan (extract vectors)] | ·Automatically finds wall lines and the outline in the picture of an image plan. The walls it finds are used by \[AI optimal placement] and \[RF Design] |
> | \[Placement Area] | ·The range where \[AI optimal placement] may put locators. It can be set in two ways·Draw a polygon directly by clicking 3 or more points on the plan·Apply the \[Analyze plan] result with \[Apply as vectors], and the outline it found becomes the placement area |
> | \[AI optimal placement] | ·Enter 'Anchor audible radius (m)' (how far a locator's signal reaches), and it automatically generates recommended locator positions inside the placement area·It first places positions along the corners and edges of the area, kept up to 2 m in from the boundary, then fills the remaining space in a grid. Positions are kept at least 5 m apart, and the signal is treated as reaching less far through each wall·Suited to placing many locators in a large space. The space must be large enough to keep locators 5 m apart |
> | \[RF Design] | ·Estimates how much the locator signal weakens through walls (about 3 dB per wall) and shows it as colors |
